I would like to attend the Eric W. workshop and am not sure to whom I send the check for the fees. Does the $50.00 fee cover the Sunday meeting as well? Thanks for the input and thanks a bunch for the board.

Hello Phillip, Glad to see you on the new forum. I am signed up for the Sat afternoon session so I hope to see you then. I have a bougainvillea I need help transplanting from a 1 gallon nursery container down to a bonsai pot. I tried to insert an image but could not upload it.
I just take a check to the workshop made payable to the club.

As Frank said, just take your workshop fee with you and someone from the club will take the money. At least, that's the way I have done it.
Also, I attended my first Sunday meeting this month. If you bring a tree or two for Eric to critique, it's expected that you will make a donation to the club in return. I badgered someone for a frame of reference of how much to donate and was given a figure of about a dollar a minute as a starting place, but I think this is highly variable based on how pleased you are with the result/advice, ability to pay, etc. It was obvious that this is a very personal thing and I don't think you would be frowned upon for contributing too little (or too much!). My observations is the guest takes 5 to 15 minutes per tree, but that, too, is likely to be off base, as this was my first experience with the Sunday meetings.
Glad to see you guys on the forums! Spread the word; I intend to ask all kinds of questions as they come up about pests, soil, pots, trees, fertilizing, wintering trees, etc, etc ... and I hope others will, too. Sharing knowledge is what it's all about.
Oh, Frank, about adding the pictures ... the board doesn't have space allocated for pictures, they have to be hosted somewhere else and you just link to them. I think I may make a sticky post about how to do that, as I am sure it will come up again.

I hope people come back and read these entries after they've posted their questions. Anyway, here's the deal. The membership is $35.00. That covers all Sunday meetings, Picnic, and Auction. (If you are a first time visitor, or want to bring a new visitor, that Sunday is free. Workshops are $50.00. Once your dues have been recorded, your first workshop is free...the trick is, you have to join FIRST. Hope that clears everything up. Anyone with a tropical or two, or winter-hardy tree will be right at home with Eric Wigert. Highly knowledgeable, he communicates very well, feels like "the only stupid question is the one that didn't get asked" and demonstrates techniques very well. Check with Dennis McHugh (404-545-5570). You may be too late as the workshops must be limited to effectively accommodate each participant. Next time sigh up EARLY to be sure. You may want to record Dennis' phone number for future reference. Regarding dues and fees, call Joe de Francisco @770-344-8167 for his help.
