First, my name is Jake. I am from the Roswell area. I have been cleaning out my garage and came across a toolbox that was handed down from my wife's late grandfather. The toolbox had several ribbons from the Atlanta Bonsai Society, as well as several of his tools. If I had to guess, I would estimate that the ribbons came from the early to mid 1960s. Some of the tools are clearly marked in English, as well as Japanese. There are 3 tools marked Masakuni, 2 of which are unused in boxes. The other tools I am having trouble identifying. Is there anybody here that is familiar with vintage Bonsai tools? I was shocked when I saw how much a pair of Makasuni clippers sold for in an auction. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I will upload pictures as soon as I hear a response. Thank you. Jake

Hi Jake,
I'll be keeping a closer eye out on the forum going forward. I do apologize that no one responded before now. I'd be interested to see the tools as well, although tool identification is probably something someone else will have to handle. Masakuni is a well known maker of Japanese bonsai tools. They are still in production today. I am not sure if you were just looking for help identifying the tools that you were unsure about, or if you might be interested in selling them to someone that would be able to use them for their intended purpose. In either case, it'd be great to see photos.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
James
